Temporary serial number

From the moment an order is place and the moment you enter the serial numbers, basically in the invoice and packing slip the column are shifted to the left since there is no serial number to display. Basically I just modified the SQL database to include by default a temporary serial number "xxx-xxx-xxx".

Serialisation

For those who did worked with MRP system or SAP management software, you will undertstand the need for that package. Basically the previous release is just great and filled the needs of most people. As for me I needed a updated version that offer serial number tracability versus Purchase Order/RMA order/Advanced Replacement Order.

Again, these are for specific needs where your store sell an item (s) in medium to large quantity and need serialisation with 100% FIELD tracability. Other then that, stick with the previous version that works just fine!

The current limitations are:

1- Single field for all serial number.
2- Field is limited to 255 characters.
3- Each order line items are limited to the lenght of the field divided the lenght of the serial number.
4- So for let's say 25,50 or 100 items on the same ordering line, you may not be able to insert all serial numbers.

The changes I made are offers:

1- 100 Serial number fields available for each single order line item.
2- Each serial number field is now 24 characters long ,which should cover most case even if you are using a date code with the addition of a sequential number at the end. Example of serial numbers:
'Toaster-2004-12-31-0001'
'Toaster-2004-12-31-0002'
'Toaster-2004-12-31-0003' etc...

Invoice Tax fix

In administration mode, when selecting 'order detail' or 'invoice' the taxes are not calculated and the price is displayed without such calculation.

Tax Price (ex) : OK
Price (inc) : BAD, same as Tax Price (ex)
Total (ex) : OK
Total (inc) : BAD same as Tax Total (ex)

Basically I removed the call to the fonction 'tep_add_tax' and replace it with a basic universal tax formula where:

Price with tax= (TaxRate/100)+1) * ProducPrice
and;
TotalPrice with tax= (TaxRate/100)+1) * ProducPrice * TotalProduct

No offense taken. I simply carried over Lee's mod assuming it had been tested fully. My mistake completely. His mod was a disaster and I fixed it after posting when i realized. Won't happen again

Product Serial UPDATE2.01

This is the UPDATED version of 420's documentation along with a fix in /admin/orders.php (~line 30) from the original v2.0 by Lee Leahu. Easy Installation and works GREAT!

Dont use 420's changes. Many Mistakes

Do Not use 420's changes document for this mod. There are WAY too many mistakes. Good idea 420 but there are are few problems. I will try to revise and post.

Install on pre-modded site

Another great idea - thanks Lee. You never know when a customer will try to pull a swap, so best to have the serials right at hand.

OK, anyway ... Lee didn't document changes, simply included PHP files so you could overwrite on a fresh install. I have simply documented them and put them in a txt so those with pre-existing mods can more easily add this mod. Ignore the changes for the other languages if you don't need them - I didn't get to the translations yet.

This module provides the admin the ability to enter in serial numbers into the invoice for each piece of hardware order in the store. The serial numbers are then printed on the generated invoice and packing slips, as well as shown in the order details under account history in the customers account.
